Run a successful pub with Wadworth
We have houses across Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. They range from village locals and community pubs to Michelin-starred food houses.
At the end of a long week at work there is nothing quite like going to your local, meeting a few friends and sinking a couple of pints. But what is it like running your pub and offering a warm and friendly welcome? Running a pub is hard work but it can also be hugely rewarding in terms of job satisfaction and earning a living at the same time.
Our pubs are either tenanted or managed. In a tenanted house the publican rents the premises, buys the fixture and fittings from the previous tenant and runs it as his own business, taking the profits for himself.
In a managed house the manager is an employee of the brewery and like the tenant usually lives on the premises.
In both tenanted and managed pubs beer, wine, spirits and cider are bought from the company.
A tenanted pub is a great way for people to run their own business. With a relatively low initial investment there is excellent earning potential with rewards directly linked to effort.
Managed pubs offer a good education and grounding in the licensed trade and is an excellent schooling in the licensed trade for those who do not have sufficient capital to invest in their own tenancy.
To get started you must hold the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders, or its equivalent; this can be obtained through our training centre in the brewery.
