Introduction

The Star was built in about 1729 and used to be 3 cottages, but still retains a cosy cottage feel in all of the public rooms. It is positioned on a small lane in the pretty Oxfordshire village of Stanton St John that dates back to the Doomsday Book, it is situated approximately 4.5 miles from the centre of the University and Cathedral City of Oxford. The Star is mainly food led with a 60/40 split, it has lovely open fires in every dining area and a sunny trade garden with a children’s play area. This must be one of the few pubs in the country to have 2 beer cellars. The present couple have been in the Star for 12 years.
